2022: Israel’s Most Dangerous Year Yet?

January 17, 2022 · 5 min read

For Israel, 2022 started with a bang, literally. The terror group Hamas fired two rockets at Israel’s most populous city, Tel Aviv. Fortunately, the rockets landed in the sea. Hamas conveniently claimed the rockets were “misfires” due to bad weather.

Israel responded immediately, pounding several sites in Gaza that manufacture rockets. The news of this incident was not widely reported because people have grown so accustomed to hearing about conflict between Israel and her neighbors. Nevertheless, this recent skirmish raises the threat of another Israel-Hamas war like the 11-day war the two sides waged in May 2021.

Expect 2022 to heighten tensions between Israel and Hamas—and Israel’s other enemies, especially Syria.
