A Stalemate Over Iran’s Nuclear Program

Secular news organizations in the United States and Israel have both begun to report that another war between Israel and Iran may be on the horizon. In recent weeks, the diplomatic conversations about Iran’s nukes have reached a stalemate.

No negotiations. No oversight. No movement forward.

In Israel, Ynet News reports that doubts are growing in Israel over the claims that Iran’s nuclear program was destroyed by the U.S. and Israeli strikes:

According to regional officials and analysts cited by The New York Times, the damage was significant but far from total — and fears across the Middle East are mounting that the next confrontation between Israel and Iran is only a matter of time.

Tehran has claimed publicly that its stockpile of highly enriched uranium was buried by the strikes, but Israeli officials believe it was secretly relocated before the strikes:

At the same time, Iran is said to be developing a new enrichment site, codenamed “Pickaxe Mountain,” which it refuses to open to international inspectors.

Iran may have hidden enough uranium to make 11 nuclear weapons, one newspaper has said. And the chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency has stated that Iran still has enough uranium to create nuclear weapons.

So what happens next?
