1,400 killed in Afghanistan Earthquake

“There is death in every home,” one father said after a devastating earthquake on Sunday night that killed hundreds in the Kunar province of Afghanistan. The magnitude-6.0 earthquake’s epicenter was near the Pakistan border and was especially violent due to its shallow location.

As of now, reports indicate more than 1,400 deaths and many thousands of injuries, making it one of the deadliest earthquakes in recent history. More than 5,000 homes have been destroyed.

Entire villages have been flattened.
