Is Christian Support of Israel Declining?
Americans still largely support Israel, but among younger people—including younger Christians—that number is dropping.
According to the Religion News Service, a March 2022 survey of 10,441 U.S. adults found that two-thirds of Americans express “a somewhat favorable view of the Israeli people.” That’s encouraging.
Incredibly, white Evangelical Christians are even more supportive of the nation of Israel than American Jews:
The survey found that 70% of white evangelicals believe God gave the land of Israel to the Jewish people. By comparison, only 32% of U.S. Jews felt God gave Israel to the Jewish people, according to [an earlier] 2020 Pew survey, which asked a similar (but not identical) question.
The Religion News Service article pointed out that Evangelicals scored lowest in their estimation of Palestinians—only 37 percent have a favorable view of Palestinians.
