If Your Heart Is Beating, We Will Find You
I read a story this month that I can’t get out of my mind, and I want to share it with you.
In early April, an American airman was shot down over the mountains of southern Iran. His F-15E went down behind enemy lines, and for about two days he hid in a crevice in the rocks while Iranian forces combed the terrain looking for him. He was hurt. He was alone. And he was invisible to the people hunting him.
Then our government found him and brought him home.
Here’s the part that really grabbed my attention. According to a report in the New York Post, the CIA located that airman using a classified tool they call “Ghost Murmur.” The idea behind it is almost hard to believe. Every human heart, when it beats, gives off a tiny electromagnetic signal. This technology is said to reach out across miles of desert, pick up the faint signature of a single beating heart, and use artificial intelligence to separate that one heartbeat from all the noise around it. At the White House, President Trump said they spotted the airman from as far as forty miles away. The CIA director said the man was “invisible to the enemy, but not to the CIA.”
And one source described the whole thing in a single chilling sentence: “In the right conditions, if your heart is beating, we will find you.”
Now, I want to be straightforward in what I’m saying. A lot of serious scientists have looked at this and pushed back. They’ll tell you the magnetic field around a human heart is so small that it’s barely measurable from a few inches away, much less forty miles. Some of them think the story is exaggerated. Some of them think it’s a smokescreen to hide how they really found him. I don’t know which it is, and I’m not going to pretend I do.
But here’s the thing—it doesn’t change my point one bit. Whether that particular machine works exactly the way they described it or not, look at the direction we’re heading. Human beings are now building systems whose entire purpose is this: there will be nowhere left to hide. Not behind a rock. Not in the dark. Not in a thousand square miles of empty desert. That’s the dream these technologies are chasing, and the tools are getting closer every single year.
And when I see that, I don’t get anxious. I look up.
A world where no one can hide
You know I’ve been teaching Bible prophecy for a long time now, and there’s a passage that came straight to my mind when I read this story. It’s the description of the world under the Antichrist during the Tribulation:
He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. —Revelation 13:16–17
For most of history, that passage was impossible to imagine. How could one man control who buys and sells across the entire earth? How could any government keep track of every single person on the planet? You couldn’t do it with cash. You couldn’t do it with paper. It simply couldn’t be enforced.
But look at where we are now. We already live in a world of digital money, digital identity, and satellites the size of your hand. And now we’re reading headlines about machines that claim they can find one hidden human being by the beating of his heart. Do you see this? The Antichrist’s world—a world of total tracking, total control, and no place to hide—is no longer science fiction. The infrastructure for it is being built right in front of us.
Let me be clear about something, because I never want to leave you afraid. That control system belongs to the Tribulation, and the Tribulation comes after the church is caught up to be with Jesus. The Mark of the Beast with the buying and selling and the manufactured consensus are all warnings for the people who will be here after the Rapture. They are not a threat hanging over you if you belong to Christ. For you and me, these headlines aren’t a reason to be afraid. They’re a reason to be ready. This is the stage being set. This is the season being announced.
We don’t know the day or the hour. But we sure do know the season.
Somebody has already found you
Now let me turn this around, because there’s a sweeter truth buried in this story, and I don’t want you to miss it.
The whole world is amazed that a machine might find a hidden man by his heartbeat. But there is Someone who has been listening to your heartbeat since before you were born.
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. —Psalm 139:7–8
David wrote that God knit him together in his mother’s womb and knew every one of his days before there was one of them. God didn’t need a quantum sensor to find you. He formed the heart that’s beating in your chest right now. And the Bible says it plainly: “there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13).
For the person running from God, that’s a terrifying thought. But for the child of God, being fully known and fully found is the safest place in all the universe. The world builds machines so no one can hide. Our Father already sees you. And if you’re in Christ, He sees you covered in the righteousness of His Son, and He calls you His own.
So here’s the real question this story leaves me with. It isn’t whether some technology can find you. It’s whether you’re ready to be found by Him. This is still the age of grace. The door is still open. If you’ve never given your heart to Jesus, don’t wait for a better time, because a better time isn’t coming—the Lord is. Soon. Very soon.
Tomorrow on Tipping Point, Dr. Mark Hitchcock is joining me, and we’re going to dig into this story along with a whole list of other technological advances that, to my eyes, look like the early scaffolding of the Beast System going up right in front of us. We’d love for you to join us.
