Jerusalem Dispatch: Israel This Week
May 9 – 15, 2026
Two to One: Three Stories, Same Day
There is a very interesting trend this week. There are almost as many stories related to antisemitism as there are regular news and commentary. But there is one, actually three, reports that top them all.
On the very same day the Israeli non-profit, The Civil Commission on October 7 Crimes Against Women and Children, released its extensive report of Hamas’s deliberate and preplanned sexual assaults on 7 October 2023, the New York Times decided to headline these two articles: The Silence That Meets the Rape of Palestinians, and The Horror of Sexual Assault in Israeli Prisons.
The Civil Commission Report is grounded in an unprecedented body of evidence:
Over 10,000 photographs and video segments
More than 1,800 hours of visual material
430+ testimonies and interviews with survivors, witnesses, released hostages, experts, and family members
Victims from 52 nationalities, in addition to Israeli victims
And the New York Times articles?
Undocumented accusations by unnamed sources that Israel trains dogs to rape prisoners: no names, no video, no forensic evidence, no documentation.
Named sources with long, documented histories of anti-Israel hate
An NGO source with documented ties to Hamas
The articles’ primary source, Sami al-Sai, has publicly celebrated Hamas’s October 7 terror attack
Testimonies throughout that are anonymous, unverifiable and unsubstantiated
And the author of both articles, known for lying about his sources (see https://freebeacon.com/media/its-hamas-propaganda-new-york-times-writer-nicholas-kristofs-sexual-violence-column-caps-a-career-of-corrections-retractions-and-apologies-going/ )
Guess which reports have garnished more views? There is not precise data, but the New York Times website gets 400 to 500 million visits per month. In contrast, visits to the Civil Commission’s website since releasing its report is estimated to be in the tens of thousands.
What is our takeaway?
