Jerusalem Dispatch: Israel This Week
June 27 – July 3, 2026
A Week that Demands Our Attention
This past week, events unfolded so fast and from so many directions that even careful observers could miss the full picture. That would be a mistake. Taken together, the stories coming out of Israel and Washington tell a single story — and it is one every follower of this land needs to understand.
Start with the military pressure surrounding Israel right now. Drone threats are emerging from Palestinian territories, and analysts warn that a drone crossing the boundary line could reach Tel Aviv in minutes. At the same time, the United States struck Iran not once but twice in recent days. President Trump followed those strikes with a blunt warning that America may eventually be “forced to militarily complete the job” — while simultaneously extending nuclear talks past an August deadline.
Iran’s foreign minister responded with language so contemptuous of Israel that it is worth reading with your own eyes.
And yet, even as the political picture intensifies, a quieter battle is being fought for the hearts and minds of a generation. A new conversation with analyst Ethan Hedding explores why support for Israel among young evangelicals is collapsing — and why that collapse carries enormous consequences not only for Christian Zionism but for Christians throughout the Middle East.
The United Nations, meanwhile, released a report accusing Israel of deliberately targeting Palestinian children. UN Watch has published a detailed legal rebuttal to those charges. Both documents are available. Read them both. Draw your own conclusions.
