Next Steps in the Peace Plan

Yesterday, Hamas released the 20 last living hostages as part of a breakthrough ceasefire that effectively ends the war between Hamas and Israel. They had been in captivity for the past two years and are undergoing medical checks. The people of Israel are rejoicing this week. Cheering crowds greeted the prisoners.

In response, Israel released 1,900 prisoners to fulfill their part of the ceasefire deal. Some of these detainees predated the war. Crowds in the West Bank rushed forward to greet these prisoners.

Hamas has also promised to arrange the return of the remains of at least 26 hostages who died while in captivity, and four have been returned already. Israel has identified two of them.
