Revelation 20–22: Seven Exciting Truths About the Millennium
We’re making our way through the major events of the End Times, and we’ve come now to the Millennial Reign of Jesus—one of the most fascinating eras in all of Bible prophecy. Last week I defended the premillennial view that Jesus will return to earth and then set up His literal Thousand-Year Reign. Today I want to explore seven exciting truths about the conditions and characteristics of that future Millennium. The clearest picture of our future home is found in Revelation chapters 20–22, the final three chapters that mirror the first two chapters of Genesis—from Paradise lost to Paradise regained. This world that’s so upside down will one day be right side up when Jesus comes back as King of kings and Lord of lords. The Millennium is that thousand-year period between Christ’s return and the recreation of the New Heaven and New Earth—ten centuries of peace and prosperity under Christ’s authority.

The Persian Storm: Bible Prophecy and Iran’s Last Threat to Israel
In The Persian Storm, biblical prophecy expert Dr. Mark Hitchcock shows you exactly why Iran will continue to be dangerous, tracing the striking link between today’s volatility and ancient Scripture. With a Scripture-first approach—without hype or sensationalism—Hitchcock helps you explore the prophecies involving Persia (modern-day Iran) and its long, defiant posture toward Israel, giving you a grounded way to understand what matters and why. You’ll learn how to:
Understand key Bible prophecies with greater clarity and confidence, and the role of the United States and Israel
Evaluate current events through a steady biblical lens (without chasing headlines)
Live with greater peace and readiness instead of fear and confusion
Stay spiritually alert as you anticipate the return of Jesus
As you explore the biblical books of Jeremiah and Ezekiel, where the Bible records many predictions about the region known as Mesopotamia or Persia, you’ll dig deeper into ancient prophecies that will shed light on important questions for the present day, like:
Do these interpretations still hold true today?
What about a possible invasion of Israel?
Does Iran still plan to wipe Israel off the map?
And what about the role of the United States in Bible prophecy?
The Persian Storm is a sober, hope-filled guide to help you discern prophetic truth and face the future with confidence—because prophecy is meant to prepare you, not scare you.
Personal Reflection & Group Discussion
For our subscribers, we’ll provide a set of personal reflection and group discussion questions. These are designed to help you dig deeper into the content of the show, whether you’re watching alone, with a spouse, with a friend, or as part of a small group.
Personal Reflection
Dr. Hitchcock says the Millennium is “from Paradise lost to Paradise regained”—the Bible comes full circle from Genesis 1–2 to Revelation 20–22. Between those bookends is the Fall, sin, brokenness, and Christ’s redemption. How does understanding this arc—God’s plan to restore what was lost—change how you view current suffering and chaos? Does knowing the end of the story help you endure the middle?
Satan will be bound for 1000 years (Revelation 20:1–3), just like the first chapters of Genesis before he tempted Adam and Eve. Dr. Hitchcock says this is part of what makes it such a wonderful time. Reflect on your own life: How much of your struggle with sin is because of satanic temptation versus your own flesh? What would your spiritual life look like without Satan’s interference? How does this help you understand the power of his current activity?
Isaiah 2:4 says nations “will not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” The Isaiah Wall at the UN inscribes these words, but Dr. Hitchcock notes “the UN hasn’t been very good at fulfilling that mandate.” Why do human efforts at peace always fail? What’s required for true, lasting peace? How should Christians balance working for peace now while recognizing only Christ’s return will bring complete peace?
Dr. Hitchcock explains that believers will have glorified bodies during the Millennium, but Tribulation survivors will have mortal bodies, repopulate the earth, and potentially live the entire 1000 years like pre-Flood patriarchs. This means some will live in perfect bodies while others age (though very slowly). How does this picture challenge simplistic views of Heaven? What does it reveal about God’s plan for both resurrected saints and continuing human civilization?
Small Group Discussion
Dr. Hitchcock contrasts three views: amillennialism (we’re in the Kingdom now between first/Second coming), postmillennialism (Church brings in the Kingdom, then Christ returns), and premillennialism (Christ returns, THEN sets up the 1000-Year Kingdom). Read Revelation 19:11–21 (Christ returns) then immediately Revelation 20:1–6 (1000-Year Reign begins). Discuss: Does the sequence support premillennialism? Why would John describe Christ’s return, then go back 2000+ years if amillennialism is true? How does the “and I saw” formula show chronological progression?
Dr. Hitchcock lists seven characteristics of the Millennium. As a group, assign each person one characteristic and have them read the corresponding passage aloud: (1) Christ reigns—2 Samuel 7:12–16, (2) Satan bound—Revelation 20:1–3, (3) No war—Isaiah 2:3–4, (4) Prosperity—Amos 9:13–15, (5) Health—Isaiah 65:20, (6) Joy—Isaiah 65:18–19, (7) Animals restored—Isaiah 11:6–9. After each reading, discuss: What aspect of the Fall/curse does this reverse? How does this show God’s original intent for Creation?
Isaiah 11:6–9 describes the restored animal kingdom—wolf with lamb, lion eating straw, child playing near cobra’s den. This is often dismissed as poetic metaphor. But Dr. Hitchcock takes it literally. Read Romans 8:19–22 together—creation groans, waiting for redemption. Discuss: If sin affected the animal kingdom (animals killing each other, natural disasters), shouldn’t redemption restore it? What theological problems arise from spiritualizing these promises? How does literal fulfillment demonstrate God’s comprehensive victory over the curse?
Dr. Hitchcock explains believers will rule with Christ in glorified bodies while Tribulation survivors repopulate earth in mortal bodies. Read Luke 19:11–27 (parable of ten minas—faithful servants rule over cities). Discuss: What does it mean to “rule over cities” during the Millennium? What will our responsibilities be? How does this challenge the view that Heaven is just floating on clouds playing harps? What skills or passions might God use in your millennial service?

Key Facts
Pre-millennial View Defended: Jesus returns, THEN 1000-Year Reign begins; “1000 years” in Revelation 20:1–7 mentioned 6 times—literal, not symbolic; Millennium is between Christ’s return and recreation of New Heaven/Earth
Seven Truths About Millennium: (1) Jesus reigns literally from throne of David in Jerusalem, accessible to all, (2) Satan bound in Abyss (Revelation 20:1–3)—no temptation like Genesis 1–2, (3) No war—Isaiah 2:3–4 fulfilled (swords into plowshares), (4) Astounding productivity—Amos 9: reaper overtaken by plowman, (5) Healing and health—Jeremiah 30:7; Isaiah 65: dying at 100 considered young/accursed; possible to live entire 1000 years like pre-Flood lifespans, (6) Overflowing joy—Isaiah 65:18–19: no weeping or crying, (7) Animal kingdom restored—Isaiah 11:6-9: wolf/lamb, leopard/goat, lion eats straw
Glorified vs. Mortal Bodies: Believers raptured/resurrected have glorified bodies ruling with Christ; Tribulation survivors in mortal bodies repopulate earth, have children; at end, mortal bodies instantly transformed (Rapture-like event) to enter New Heaven/Earth
Isaiah Wall at UN: UN Plaza Park (NYC) has wall inscribed with Isaiah 2:4—UN hasn’t fulfilled it, but Jesus will
P.T. Barnum Story: “Happy Family” exhibit—lions, tigers, panthers with lamb; when asked about trouble, said “Apart from replenishing the lamb now and then, they get along”—shows we’re not in Millennium yet
Donald Campbell Story: Dallas Seminary president told class he became “amillennialist”; students shocked; explained: reading Isaiah 11 after watching war on news, leaned back and said “Aw, Millennium!”—longing for that Kingdom
